As a professional football player in the Canadian Football League, Donnie played 7 seasons as a Defensive Back for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Ottawa Renegades and Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Donnie acquired his degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, balancing successful scholastic achievements as well as being the Captain of the WLU Golden Hawks Football Team. An accomplished artist, he was recognized with a scholarship for Outstanding Performance in Studio Work:
