Elite Performance Academy football athlete John Biewald has been named the CIS and OUA Defensive Player of the Week for September 21, 2015. He is currently 2nd in the Nation in QB Sacks.
John has been a member of the EPA program since 2012, and has trained in the Elite D2D CIS/NCAA Summer Prep Program since it began. This past summer, he was one of the featured athletes on the House Edge Sports Network‘s documentary web series “#TheDifference”.
John is the perfect example of an athlete who has trusted and believed in the program, and worked hard over the long-term to achieve the success he is seeing now.
DEFENCE: John Biewald (Ottawa, Ont.) – 4th yr. – Western
John Biewald (Ottawa, Ont.) led the way for the Mustangs D in another stellar performance by Western, topping Queens 48-25.
Biewald contributed three sacks and six tackles for the Mustangs, while three of those tackles were for a loss, resulting in -17 yards for Queens.
The fourth-year Social Science major is having a career season so far, totalling 13.5 tackles, 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble this year. Biewald is part of a Mustang defence that has allowed a league-best 12.8 points a game.
The 6’4, 225 defensive lineman exploded in last year’s playoffs, leading the team with 10 tackles against their semi-final loss to Guelph.
