Elite Performance Academy Taekwondo Athletes Make Their Mark

Elite Performance Academy Coach Ruiz, himself an accomplished martial artist who will soon be pursuing his Black Belt in Taekwondo,  has been developing a number of combat athletes recently, and 2 in particular are reaping the rewards of their increased strength, power, speed, and agility.

Miro Mostovac:

Is Presently in Training for the Pan-American Championships in June 2012. He has already had a successful start to the tournament season with a National Championship performance at the CTFI (Canadian Taekwondo Federation International) achieving the Gold Medal in men’s  2nd degree patterns, Gold in Men’s special techniques, and Silver in men’s middleweight sparring. All of these accomplishments led to young Miro being honoured the title Trophy for Best Overall Male Athlete. His great work ethic, focus and intense approach to training will have him gunning for another Champion perfromance at the Pan-Americans.

Alana Thibodeau-Cabanas:
A fierce Taekwondo competitor Alana started preparation in January 2011 to get back into peak performance for her very specific plan for 2012. The first step of her strategic athletic plan was to make her weight class and improve her speed and explosiveness for Eastern Canadian Championships March 24th. This was her first tournament in over a year, and Alana achieved the Gold in Sparring. She then followed that up with another determined performance at the Capital Cup in Ottawa, with another Gold medal performance in Women’s Black belt sparring. Alana is now putting the final touches on her training as she gets ready to compete as a certified 3rd degree black belt in ITF (International Taekwon-Do Federation) for the Panamerican Championships on June 2012 and World Championships in Spain 2013. Alana and her husband, opened ARCAN TaekwonDo –arcantkd@hotmail.com– in September 2010 in Nepean Ottawa, Mr.Cabanas is a certified 4th degree Black Belt and International Instructor, originally from Argentina).

We look forward to continuing to watch these great athletes development and represent the EPA family at the Pan-American Championships.
